Description
Four hundred years have passed since the unprecedented parade [Kanei Gyoko] to Nijo Castle. Now, we explore the roots of Japan's sense of beauty in the creative painting period of the Kan'ei era. Kyoto, the capital of a thousand years. During the Edo period (1603-1867), Kyoto was the birthplace of the publishing culture, and the promotion of technology and industry, such as ceramics and dyeing, was remarkable, as well as the development of many new cultural arts that enhanced the culture of the Japanese people. The Kan'ei period, in particular, is called the "home of Japanese culture" and was a time when many cultural figures were active. Emperor Gosui, Tokugawa Hidetada*Iemitsu, Tofukumonin Masako, Kobori Enshu, Kano Tanyu, Nonomura Ninsei, Shokado Shojo, Tawaraya Sotatsu, Hon'ami Koetsu, Ikenobo Senko... This exhibition introduces a wide variety of talented stars and currents in the fields of tea ceremony, calligraphy, ikebana, sukiya architecture, pottery, kosode, publishing, and more. *About 80 valuable historical materials including national treasures are included. [Contents] Prologue: Hometown of Japanese Culture: The Story of Nijo Castle in Kyoto Chapter 1: Days leading up to the Kan'ei Gyoko - Meticulous Planning Chapter 2: The Kanei Gyoko - Five Days at Nijo Castle Chapter 3: The Kanei Culture and Its Succession: Spread*Fellowship*Revival Epilogue: Nijo Castle and a Tour of Kyoto with the Fragrance of Kanei (with Kyoto MAP) [Supervisor] Kanako Hamasaki (Kyoto, Japan) Kanako Hamasaki(Living History in Kyoto*Nijo Castle Council Chairman) [Supervisor] [Reference] [Reference] [Reference Tomoko Ietsuka, Osamu Inoue, Yoshiko Oka, Mutumi Kadowaki, Isao Kumakura, Asao Kozu, Yoko Sanekata, Kenichi Suzuki, Yoshihiro Senda, Tatsuya Tajima, Takahiro Naka, Iwao Nagasaki, Akira Nagoya, Nobuo Harada, Susumu Hyuga, Chisako Hirose, Nobuko Fukaya, Kenichi Niki, Keizo Miyamoto [Speakers*Contributors](in alphabetical order) Living History in Kyoto*Nijo Castle Council This is an initiative that began in 2019 to convey the cultural*historical value of Nijo Castle to the present day.
