| * Masao Yamamoto [bird] mini portfolio*. This is a portfolio of 8 monochrome works printed in collotype, which has become a rare expression in the world. It is a set of 6 works with birds as the subject. *What is collotype*? While offset printing, a common printing method, expresses colors and shading with a density of small dots, collotype expresses them with continuous gradation, which makes it possible to express them with fine details that are closer to the real thing, as in a photograph. Masao Yamamoto Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1957. Started photography at the age of 16, and later worked in oil painting, before presenting his work using photographic techniques (mainly gelatin silver prints). Since his first solo exhibition in San Francisco in 1994, he has been actively showing his work both in Japan and abroad. The colors and textures of his work, which resemble those of old photographs, are internationally acclaimed for their uniquely Japanese spirituality and aesthetic sensibility. His major works include [Empty Boxes][Small Things in Silence] *The Mini Portfolio Series is a series of sets that focuses on size and set contents to make it easy to enjoy photographic works with the expressive power that only Collotype can offer.
