【珊瑚とは】
珊瑚は長い時間をかけて海底で育つ生物。その骨格を加工したものです。
日本は宝石類の産出量がわずかですが、珊瑚と真珠に関しては世界的に日本が主な産地であることが認められています。
鉱物ではありませんがパワーストーンとして扱われ、アクアマリンとともに3月の誕生石とされています。
【パワーストーンとしての意味】
珊瑚（さんご）は、仏教における七宝の中の一つとされており、
富と繁栄、持つと家が代々栄えるといわれ、豊かさを表すと言われています。
また、珊瑚は枝を長く伸ばすことから、こどもの成長のお守りとして「長く育つよう」という
安産のお守りや、願いをこめられ海外では親から子へ珊瑚が贈られる文化がある地域もあります。
