The jade origin of Itoigawa City is located in the Kotaki area upstream of the Himegawa River, which flows into the Sea of Japan, and in the Hashidate area upstream of the Aomi River. Some areas are designated as natural monuments. Jade is found on the banks of these rivers and on the beaches near their mouths. One of the characteristics of jade found in Itoigawa, especially in the sea, is that it is beautiful enough in its raw state, while rough jade from Myanmar, which is also famous for its high quality, has a brownish crust on its surface due to weathering. Jade from Itoigawa is the only one of its kind in Japan and one of the best gem-quality jade in the world, and is highly valued for its high quality.

糸魚川産の翡翠は日本で唯一の、そして世界でも有数の「宝石質翡翠」として、その質の高さが評価されています。
糸魚川市の翡翠の原産地は、日本海にそそぐ姫川上流の小滝地区と、青海川上流の橋立地区にあります。 一部エリアは天然記念物に指定されています。翡翠はこれらの川の河原や、河口付近の海岸で発見されます。
同じく品質の高いことで有名なミャンマー産の翡翠原石が風化によって表面に褐色の被殻を持つのに対し、糸魚川の、特に海で見つかる翡翠は原石のままで十分に美しいのも特徴の一つです。
大規模な商業的採掘がおこなわれているミャンマーに対し、糸魚川の翡翠はほぼ自然の状態で保護されているため、市場に出回っている量が少なく、その希少性も大きな価値となっています。
こちらの素材は弊社で特別に保存していた翡翠となります。
【北海道産 日高翡翠 ひだかひすい】

1966年、日高町で翡翠が見つかったと話題になりました。
正確には翡翠ではなく、クロム透輝石の一種であり、クロムを1%ほど含有することにより 淡い緑色を発色しています。
硬玉でも軟玉でもなく、しかしヒスイの特徴である織物状の構造をしていることや、 色目や透明感などが翡翠に遜色ないことが認められ、番場猛夫博士（当時地質調査所）が、 宝石学会誌に論文を公表したことにより、硬玉、軟玉につぐ「第三の翡翠」として世界に認められました。
しかし、すぐに枯渇し、1970年代をピークに忘れ去られようとしております。
今後「幻の翡翠」として鉱物マニアの注目を浴びる可能性も考えられます。
他の成分として、黒い斑点がスピネル、灰クロム柘榴石や、ペクトライトなどの角閃石類を確認することができます。
