Description
| About 10 years ago, a series of seal piggy banks featuring illustrations by renowned designers from Japan and abroad became a huge hit. This is a limited-edition version featuring a scarf. It is manufactured by the same company that produces the Elephant Bank, and the design is by Gunvor Olin-Gronqvist, who worked at the Arabia Art Department. The motif for this seal piggy bank is the Saimaa ringed seal. Found exclusively in Finland’s Lake Saimaa, it is the world’s rarest seal, with a current population of only about 350 to 400. It is designated as an endangered species by the WWF, and significant efforts are reportedly being made to protect it. |
