Description
| A long-length wrap from the [marrow] series, created by repurposing leftover fabric from mosquito net production and well-worn everyday clothing. The uniquely developed, double-woven fabric has a plush texture and combines a soft feel with the warmth of cotton. It’s also recommended for those who want to stay warm during the cold season but aren’t fond of wool*. In the fall of 2025, it made a comeback with a redesigned, slightly smaller fit. We believe that the essence of our approach lies in designing products and services from the planning stage with material recycling in mind, to prevent the generation of waste, excess, and pollution *The Process of Creating Upcycled Products* 1. Collection We collect fabric scraps from the production of [mosquito net products] and worn-out [Kaya everyday clothing], and sort the mosquito net fabric into its 20 different colors. 2. Re-fiberization We process the mosquito net fabric scraps—which were originally destined for disposal—into a [cotton-like] form. *“Reworking” refers to the process of restoring waste yarn, waste fabric, and used clothing to a cotton-like state so they can be reused as fibers. It is one method of fiber reuse that has regained attention in recent years due to the growing focus on sustainability. 3. Reworked Yarn The cotton is spun into yarn. 4. Weaving The resulting re-fibered yarn is woven into a double-weave fabric. 5. Manufacturing/Sales The finished fabric is sewn into finished products. Since each piece of fabric contains a mix of 4 to 7 different colors of mosquito net fabric, upon closer inspection, you can see the texture of the neps and subtle variations in color throughout the fabric. ●「marrow」シリーズとは●
marrowは「蚊帳製品」の生産時に出来る裁断後の余り布や、着古された「かやの日常着」を原料の一部に使用しています。
のちにmarrowも原料になることで、循環型経済を確立していきます。
廃棄物や無駄、汚染を発生させないように、原料のリサイクルを想定した上で製品デザインやサービスをプラン段階から設計することが本質にあると考えています
●アップサイクル商品ができるまで●
1.回収
「蚊帳製品」の生産時の余り布/着古した「かやの日常着」を回収し、
蚊帳生地全20色をそれぞれ色ごとに分けます。
2.反毛
廃棄予定だった余り布の蚊帳生地を「綿」状にします。
※反毛とは廃棄糸、廃棄生地、古着などを綿状に戻して繊維として再利用することです。近年のサスティナブル志向によって改めて注目されている繊維再利用手段の1つです。
3. 反毛糸
綿を紡績し糸にしていきます。
4.織り
出来上がった反毛糸を2重織に織っていき、生地にします。
5.製品化/販売
できた生地を縫製し、製品化。 ひとつの生地に4〜7色の蚊帳生地が混在していることで、よく見るとネップの表情や生地に小さな彩りが見えます。

●蚊帳生地の特徴●
もともと寝る際の蚊よけとして吊られれていた蚊帳。
織目が粗く、風通しの良い生地です。空気を通すために糸と糸の間を広くとって織り上げる製法で、非常に軽く速乾性・通気性に富んでいます。
