Description
| A million words on the magic of *Mao Zedong, the genius of presentation*. Columnist Yuukichi Amano said of this book, "There is no other book in the world that introduces and explains Mao's Cultural Revolution so relentlessly from the viewpoint of 'propaganda'. Shinichi Kusamori, "the last of the literati," has taken on the challenge of one of the greatest mysteries of modern history, the Cultural Revolution, and, like an intelligence analyst, has deciphered the entire propaganda (=presentation) in this massive volume of 1200 pages in total, the first two volumes. It is said that 30 million people died as a result of the Cultural Revolution in the mid-1960s. Mao Zedong, whose authority was on the wane, incited middle school and high school students to wipe out all hostile forces. [He even issued an order to "bombard the command center" and lynched the people and even the head of state, eventually killing them. The people, under the banner of "Long Live Mao," willingly repeated the destruction and slaughter. Kusamori concluded, "In a socialist state, everything is propaganda. How propaganda deceives people, and how people are deceived - we will never tire of going through the propaganda tricks. Kusamori's policy is to write about whatever is on his mind at the time of writing, even if it seems unrelated, because there must be a connection. [It is a book that is clearly distinct from academic theories of the Cultural Revolution. The book is also a collection of essays on the Chinese Revolution, including a discussion of Chinese poetry and humor, as well as a discussion of the "Golgo 13" story, and the human will to "keep living" in the midst of tragedy. This is the long-awaited book version of the 11-year serialization in the magazine "ADVERTISING REVIEW.
