| Richi Ueno was a designer active in Vienna and Kyoto during the first half of the 20th century. Her imaginative designs have been transformed into book covers that add a touch of color to your reading time. Richi Ueno Felice [Lizzi] Rix-Ueno (1893–1967) An Austrian born in Vienna. In 1925, she moved to Kyoto after marrying Japanese architect* Isaburo Ueno. She incorporated techniques from traditional Kyoto crafts, such as cloisonné and weaving, into her work, engaging in a wide range of design projects including textiles, home goods, and interior design. After the war, she also devoted herself to nurturing the next generation as an educator at institutions of higher learning, such as art universities. Her designs are characterized by a combination of free-flowing lines and exquisite colors. |
