| These are marquetry coasters. These marquetry coasters are meticulously crafted by intricately combining the colors and grain patterns of different wood species. By carefully selecting each piece of wood—each with its own unique character—assembling them, and polishing them with care, we bring out their one-of-a-kind luster. The wood used has been collected over the years. By bringing out the rich character inherent in the wood and avoiding excessive ornamentation, we have given form to its essential beauty. This is a piece that allows you to feel the warmth of the wood and the passage of time every time you use it. It quietly accompanies your daily life, adding a subtle touch of elegance to your style. It is finished with a 100% natural wax made from a blend of beeswax and plant-derived oils. Wood Types: We craft our pieces using whatever materials are at hand, including cherry, chestnut, cypress, beech, oak, cedar, Japanese white birch, and ebony. [Care Instructions] If the luster fades or scratches become noticeable, apply a plant-based oil such as olive oil or camellia oil, then wipe it off with a dry cloth to restore the shine. [Shiratani Workshop] Based in Nichinan Town, Tottori Prefecture, our workshop uses the marquetry technique to bring out the beauty of wood.
