Description
| We’ve reimagined the traditional flag pattern used by the Asafo, a warrior organization of the Fanti people of Ghana, which served as a symbol of their group. The ship motif carries multiple meanings. One set asserts their capabilities—such as “This ship can carry any load, no matter how large” and “We are ready to set sail”—while another symbolizes the importance of working together and a sense of solidarity, as expressed in the idea that “When a large ship runs into rough waters, the entire crew suffers.” The palm tree is a plant considered by the Fanti people to be the strongest tree, and it is depicted as a symbol of eternity. Propelling a large ship forward relies not on the strength of a single person, but on the collective strength of the people gathered there. This motif inspires a sense of courage to move forward and the importance of supporting one another. |
