Originally, it was treated as a medicine spoon in China, and is also known as a "potato leaf teaspoon, The handle was attached to a spoon in the shape of a taro leaf, and the tip of the base was spherical for the purpose of crushing the medicine. Before the establishment of chanoyu, this type of medicine spoon was used for matcha. しかし、室町時代の末にそれまでの芋の葉茶杓では器を傷つける恐れがあり
先の太い形状では口の小さい茶入からお茶をすくうのは難しくなりました。
そこで従来の薬匙を原型にして、条件を満たす形状に作られたのが今の茶杓です
時代と共に手作りの竹茶杓を数多くの茶人たちが自ら作るようになり、
