| Handmade glass [Tsugaru Biidoro] 12 colors of glass to feel the beautiful four seasons of Japan [Tsugaru Biidoro is handmade one by one by skilled craftsmen at a factory that has "Aomori Meister," a certification for excellent Aomori technicians. The charm of this product lies in the beauty of its colors, which reflect the richness of the four seasons. [The process of "creating the color of glass" is difficult because of the difficulty of mixing the ingredients, and if there is even a 0.1 gram difference per kilogram of glass, the glass will not take shape and will break. The color matching of Tsugaru Biidoro is a craftsman's skill that makes the most of long years of intuition and experience. The skill of melting is also indispensable in creating the colors. Careful attention is paid to melting temperature and raw material input to ensure that the ideal color is achieved when the glass is turned into a product. The process of determining the right amount of melting temperature to efficiently produce good colors sometimes takes several years, and can only be continued with perseverance and passion. 『津軽びいどろ』は青森の優れた技術者として認定された「あおもりマイスター」を有する工場で、一つ一つ熟練の職人の手作りで作られる。
その魅力は、豊かな四季の情景を映し込んだ色彩の美しさにある。「ガラスの色を作る」という作業は成分の調合が難しく、1キロに対したった0.1グラムでも違いがあれば、形にならずに割れてしまう。色合わせが特徴の津軽びいどろの色づくりは、まさに長年の勘と経験が活きた職人技。
色づくりには溶融の腕も欠かせない。ガラスが製品となったとき、理想の色に発色するように溶融の温度や原料の投入など細心の注意を払う。良い色を効率よく出せる加減を見極める作業は、ときには数年をかけるため、根気と情熱がなければ続けられない。
北洋硝子のように、色の調合から成形まですべての工程を自社で賄えるところは極めて少ない。たくさんの手間と時間がかかるからだ。それでも「誰かの心に残る特別な色を作りたい」という想いが四季の情景をびいどろに宿していく。
