Yoko Kuwasawa is a clothing designer who proposed a "better life" for ordinary people. Kuwasawa created a clothing design system that has continued to the present day, starting with work clothes during the war and continuing with uniforms and casual wear after the war. She also founded the Kuwasawa Design Institute and Tokyo Zokei University, and worked with Yusaku Kamekura, Shigeru Tamura, Tadayoshi Sato, Masaru Katsumi, and Takashi Kono as a leading educator in the design world of the time. This book provides an overview of her activities and philosophy throughout her life, including events from her childhood, her way of life as a working woman, and episodes that convey her passion for design. After working as a reporter for the architectural magazine "Jutaku" (Housing), she became involved in editing "Fujin Gaho" (Fujin Gaho), but World War II broke out. During the war, he learned dressmaking and left Fujin Gaho in 1942 to open Kuwasawa Clothing Studio, which was destroyed in an air raid. After the war, he worked as a clothing designer, offering Western-style sewing and style proposals for Fujin Gaho and other magazines. Under the guideline of "for a better life for ordinary people," he designed work clothes, uniforms, and school uniforms for factories.
