| Shigaraki ware is produced around Shigaraki Town, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, and is one of the six oldest kilns in Japan! Shigaraki ware is made of strong clay and has a rustic texture that brings out the richness of nature! [The Birth of Shigaraki Ware Tanuki The first person who started making tanuki ornaments was Tetsuzo Fujiwara, the first generation of Tetsuzo Fujiwara, who founded Raccoon Ann in the early Meiji period. 《信楽焼たぬき》の誕生
たぬきの置物を最初に作り始めたのは、明治初期創業「狸庵」初代の藤原銕造(ふじわら てつぞう)氏。
銕造氏が若くして京都・清水焼の窯元で修業していたある月夜の晩、たぬきたちが「ポンポコポン」と
音羽川の河原で腹鼓を打っていたという夢のような不思議な体験をした。
そのことを親方に話すと『何人に一人しか聞けぬたぬきの腹鼓だ』と教えられ、その姿を焼き物で再現しようと思いつき、
信楽に帰郷後、たぬきの焼き物を作り始めたのが《信楽焼たぬき》の始まりと言われています。
福を呼び込む『八相縁起』
信楽焼たぬきは『八相縁起(はっそうえんぎ)』と呼ばれる縁起を表しており、
笠・目・笑顔・徳利・通い帳・大きなお腹・金袋・尻尾にはそれぞれ意味があります。

災難や悪事を避け、身を守ってくれる。
【目】
大きな目で周囲に気を配り、正しい判断をする。
【笑顔】
いつも笑顔でいることで商売繁盛につながる。
