Ukiyoe in Kyoto; [The "One Hundred Famous Views of the Capital" is a series of color woodblock prints published by a publisher in Osaka in the late Edo period (1603-1868). It was produced by five Ukiyo-e artists, including Umegawa Tokyo and Utagawa Hokusui, and contains 32 scenes from 100 famous places in and around Kyoto, including Kinkakuji Temple, Ginkakuji Temple, and the Gion Festival. The works also offer a glimpse of the four seasons and the world of the time. |
