大阪大学大学院人間科学研究科附属未来共創センターでは「未来共生プログラム」や「大阪大学オムニサイト（OOS）協定」などの取り組みで、社学連携の推進を図ってきた。
本書では教育現場、被災地、地域交流における学びのほか、パートナー協定を結んだ企業、自治体、NPO法人と協働して課題解決に取り組んできたプロセスを描き、解決の手法を具体的に紹介する。社会と連携・協働し、共創知を創出すること、フィールドに出るだけでなく「協働・共生の場そのものを創出」することが、専門家の役割である。未来共創センターの挑戦には、そのエッセンスが詰まっている。
