Description
| Funabashi Kaleidoscope Kaleidoscope means kaleidoscope. The beautiful glass is created by Edo faceting, a traditional Japanese craft, and sandblasting engraving. Looking into the inside of the glass, engraved cherry blossoms bloom all around with a kaleidoscopic effect created by the cut sides. The cherry blossoms appear to float even more when filled with a clear beverage. (Design)Along the Ebigawa River in Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture, a famous cherry blossom viewing spot, some 500 beautiful flowers bloom in spring, delighting the eyes of visitors. The design was inspired by the Ebigawa River, which has been a source of comfort and relaxation for us in this area since our establishment. (Faceting, which cuts a wide surface called "hakama," is a job that requires a great deal of skill. This [hakama] was done in three stages to find the best reflection. The final stage, "finishing," utilizes the now rare technique of "hand polishing" to ensure that the sparkle of the glass looks its most beautiful. |
