Beautiful women depicted A collection of [Modern Girls] drawn from the Taisho to the early Showa period by the design department of Nakayama Taiyodo (now Club Cosmetics), a cosmetics company that was the parent company of the legendary publisher [Platonsha], including Fumio Yamana, Rokuro Yama, and Sentaro Iwata, who were brilliant designers and illustrators in Japanese design history! Nakayama Taiyodo, known as [Club in the West, Rate in the East], was one of the leading companies in [Osaka] and became a base for cultural exchange between the West and Japan, between Kanto and Kansai. Then, moving from Art Nouveau to Art Deco, the company leads the image of makeup and fashion for women who are becoming independent. With the full cooperation of Club Cosmetics Co., Ltd. we will look back at the origins that lead us to the present through the designs of [women] depicted in advertisements, posters, packages, and magazines. |
