The author, Kojiro Hirose, works at the National Museum of Ethnology in Osaka. He is totally blind. Inspired by the story of Hoichi Miminashi, a biwa master who trained himself to use all his senses except sight and created "sound" with his biwa, this is his original touchable picture book with Braille. This is the author's first work for children, which encourages them to feel spring, summer, fall, and winter with senses other than sight, and to express these feelings. Hirose says that the spread of the new type of coronavirus infection has caused him to return to the basic question of what it means to touch something in the first place, and he has continued to communicate that "inspiration is not born from a non-contact society. In the Corona disaster, "touch" has become a taboo image, but it is something that is necessary and meaningful for everyone to live, not only for the blind. With this in mind, the book was created using raised prints of various textures, hoping that children will remember to let their imaginations run wild from touching them. The illustrations are bright, cute, and very clear. This is a picture book that both children who can see and those who cannot see can enjoy together. Braille is included.
