Description
Obara Koson (1877-1945), an artist active from the end of the Meiji period to the beginning of the Showa period, created elaborate woodblock prints of familiar nature scenes such as birds, animals, and flowers, which were exported overseas and gained great popularity worldwide. After his death, his works were forgotten in Japan, but recently, exhibitions have been held to re-evaluate his work, and his works are attracting attention. This long-awaited book explores the whole picture of Furumura through approximately 150 woodblock prints. |
