Can Philosophical Practice be a Prescription for Disaster Relief?

This book introduces the author's more than 40 activities of philosophical dialogue with disaster victims since the Great East Japan Earthquake, mainly at Sendai Mediatheque, and critically examines the possibility of philosophy in the face of the disaster.

To begin with, what does it mean to "re-tell" the disaster? What are the appropriate words? What is the appropriate terminology to use? The conflicting identities of survivor*supporter*participant that change with the passage of time since the disaster, [guilt], [uselessness], [what is support], [is it possible to understand the pain of the victims], [what is a hometown], [confusion of medical professionals who are also victims over their public and private lives], [photographs The participants' various words, such as "What is a hometown?

An attempt to explore what support philosophy can provide and what philosophy should be in the face of the disaster.
