[What Is Kaishi?]
[Kaishi] is useful not only in the tea ceremony but also in everyday life and when entertaining guests.
Its appeal lies in its practicality—a single sheet can be used for “writing, wiping, and wrapping,” such as for notes, as a tray liner for sweets, or for wrapping bills.

In recent years, it has also gained popularity as a Japanese-style accessory, making it ideal for gift-giving and inbound tourism.
Easy to recommend to both men and women, it’s an item that evokes a sense of the seasons and the charm of traditional Japan, making it suitable for a wide range of retail settings.

[About Tsuji Shoten]
Founded in Meiji 43.
Starting with the sale of imported pulp, we have since handled base paper for the gold and silver threads used in kimonos and obi sashes. In 2007, we launched our original brand, [Tsujitoku], and began planning, manufacturing, and selling kaishi. We promote the appeal of kaishi as items that can be used not only in tea ceremonies but also in everyday life.

Drawing on creative ideas that go beyond the traditional boundaries of kaishi, we are also developing items that anyone can use, such as paper diffusers and pleated paper plates. Furthermore, we have transformed the base paper for gold and silver threads—which we have handled for many years—into thread and reimagined it as hand-woven paper fabric. We are also focusing our efforts on creating products that make the most of this paper fabric, such as bags and accessories.
