Description
| Kutani-yaki, a traditional craft recognized by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, celebrates 360 years since the opening of the Kutani kiln. Kutani-yaki was exhibited at the Paris World Exposition and became famous throughout the world as Japan*Kutani, and has been collected by famous museums around the world, including the British Museum and the Louvre. This rock glass is made by blending the normally milky white Kutani Yaki stone base [to bring out the original white of the Kutani Yaki base] and achieving a sharp, edgy cut. The glass is made as thin as possible by hand towing, making it extremely light in contrast to its appearance. The thick base prevents heat from being transferred to the hand and is resistant to changes in outside temperature. |
